Colour photograph inside the Royal Pump Rooms, Leamington Spa, c.1970.
Image of a man receiving hot pack treatment. Hot packs were used to treat stiff muscles and relieve general pain. Packs were made from Fullers Earth and would be boiled in 10 gallon Burco boilers. They would then be taken out and drained, wrapped in a towel and applied to the affected area. Treatment would last from 20 to 40 minutes.
