Louis Haghe (1806-1895)
Mill Street Chapel
Ink on paper
130mm x 190mm
This lithograph was produced by Day and Haghe, from Haghe's original drawing on stone. It depicts a view of Mill Street Chapel in Leamington Spa. The chapel was opened in 1829 by a group that had defected from the original Clemens Street Congregational Chapel. It changed hands in 1841 and again in 1885 when it became a Presbyterian Chapel. The chapel was bought in 1897 by the vicar of the parish church who used it as parish rooms. The chapel as shown in this image was demolished around this time and replaced by purpose built parish rooms. Most recently the 'new' building has been used as a Sikh community centre and is now undergoing refurbishment.
