Description:
Photograph by Walden Hammond of the Vichy Douche Treatment Area at the Royal Pump Rooms, Leamington Spa.
A needle shower is in the far left corner and a treatment slab is to the left. During treatment the patient was sprayed with warm water at high pressure to stimulate the skin. This was combined with massage and exercises, which loosened the muscles and improved circulation. The treatment was followed by wrapping the patient in warm towels and sending them to lie down in the cool room of the Hammam.
