Description:

Monaco cast brass 5 centimes, 1837


Diameter 28mm


The obverse features the bust of Honore V facing left. The inscription reads 'HONORE V PRINCE DE MONACO'. Below the bust is the name 'Borrel. F', possibly that of the designer or engraver. The reverse features the denomination above the date. The letter 'M' is the mintmark for Monaco. Alongside are clasped hands and the letter 'C' which are the Privy Marks for the mint director, Francois Cabinas. The outermost decoration is a wreath of oak branches joined at the base.
