Turkish silver kurush

Hejira date 1293 (28 January 1876 - 15 January 1877)

Diameter 15mm

The obverse features the tughra, a calligraphic seal or signature, of Abdul Hamid II. To the right is the honorific title of 'El Ghazi' meaning The Victorious. The denomination is below and there is a ring of twelve stars around the outside. The reverse features Arabic script, part of which reads 'was struck in Questantiniyah' (Constantinople). Below is the first year of the reign of Abdul Hamid II, 1293. Again this is all within a ring of twelve stars.
