Description:

English silver fourpence/ groat (Maundy Set), 1855

Diameter 18mm

The obverse bears the bust of Queen Victoria facing left and the inscription 'Victoria D:G: Britanniar: Regina F:D:', Latin abbreviated meaning 'Victoria By The Grace of God Queen of the Britains, Defender of the Faith'. The reverse features the denomination with a crown above dividing the date. There is a wreath of oak branches around the outside.
