Leamington Spa silver medal, c.1890


Diameter 45mm


The obverse features a dictionary on a stand within a central beaded ring. The inscription 'FOR SPELLING' is above with two six-pointed stars at either side of the central ring and a small calligraphic pattern below. The outermost decoration is a wreath. The reverse features the inscription 'REWARD/ OF/ SUPERIOR/ MERIT' within a wreath tied at the base with a bow, the outermost decoration is the same as the obverse. This medal was issued as a reward for spelling by St Luke's school, Leamington Spa.
