Greek silver drachma, 1874


Diameter 22mm


The obvserse features the bust of King George I (1863-1913) facing left with an inscription in Greek around the outside. Underneath the bust is the name 'Bappe', possibly that of the designer or engraver. The date is below with the Parisian mintmark, 'A', to the left. The reverse features the Royal Coat of Arms of Greece with the denomination below and an inscription in Greek around the outside. To either side of the denomination are the Parisian Privy Marks of a bee for the Mint Director and an anchor for the Engraver General.
