Spanish copper 2 1/2 centimos, 1867


Diameter 24mm


The obverse features the laureate bust of Isabel II facing right within a central ring of dots. The inscription reads 'ISABEL II POR LA GRACIA DE DIOS Y LA CONST', 'Isabel II By the Grace of God and the Constitution', followed by the date between two seven pointed stars, which represent the Seville mint. The reverse features the coat of arms of Castile and Leon within a wreath, underneath are the mintmark initials 'OM' for Oeschger Mesdach & Co. Around the outside the inscription reads 'REINA DE LAS ESPANAS', 'Queen of the Spaniards', and is divided from the denomination below by two seven pointed stars.
