French copper-nickel 10 centimes, 1919

Diameter 20mm

Circular coin with a central circular hole. The obverse features the letters 'RF' (Republique Francaise) flanking the central pierced hole. Above the hole is the Phrygian, or liberty, cap. Around all of this is a wreath of oak branches. To the right at the base is the name 'L M Lindauer', possibly that of the designer or engraver. The reverse features the motto 'LIBERTE EGALITE FRATERNITE', 'Liberty, Equality, Brotherhood'. Inscribed underneath is '10' and 'CMES' (centimes) flanking the central pierced hole. A single olive branch rises up from between the numbers of the date at the base, it then branches into two at either side of the central hole. To the left and right of the coin are Parisian Privy Marks, the cornucopia for the Mint Director of Paris and the torch for the Engraver General of Paris.
