Description:

French bronze 10 centimes, 1853

Diameter 29mm

The obverse features the bust of Emperor Napoleon III facing left. The name 'Barre', possibly the name of the designer or engraver, is underneath the bust. Around the outside is the inscription 'NAPOLEON III EMPEREUR' and the date. The date is flanked by two Privy Marks, the dogs head for the Engraver General of Paris and the hand for the Mint Director of Paris. The reverse features an eagle and the mintmark for Paris, 'A'. Inscribed around the outside is 'EMPIRE FRANCAIS/DIX CENTIMES' divided by two stars.
