Norwegian bronze ore, 1899

Diameter 15mm

The obverse features the National Arms of Norway. This consists of a crown above a shield bearing a lion rampant which carries an axe. To the left of the shield are the letters 'OCR' and to the right is the number two in Roman Numerals. This forms the monogram of King Oscar II of Norway and Sweden. The reverse features a large central number '1' with the word 'ORE' above, within a wreath of oak. Below are two crossed hammers which is the mint mark for Kongsberg. The date is at either side of the mintmark.
