French bronze one centime, 1862

Diameter 14mm

Within a ring of dots on the obverse is a laureate bust of Emperor Napoleon III facing left. Underneath the bust is the name Barre, possibly that of the designer or engraver. The words 'NAPOLEON III EMPEREUR' are inscribed around the outside with the date below. Before the date on the left is an anchor and after the date on the right is a bee, both are Parisian Privy Marks. The reverse features an eagle within a ring of dots. Below the eagle is the Parisian mint mark 'A'. Inscribed around the outside are the words 'EMPIRE FRANCAIS/UN CENTIME' divided by two stars.
