French One Decime

Description:

French copper 1 decime, mid 19th Century

Diameter 30mm

The obverse is very worn but features Marianne, the female symbol of the French Republic. She is facing left and wearing the Phrygian, or Liberty, cap. The inscription reads, 'REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE'. The reverse is also very worn but features the inscription 'UN DECIME' above the date, which is illegible on this example. The denomination and date are surrounded by a wreath.
