English bronze farthing, 1909

Diameter 19mm

The obverse features the bust of Edward VII facing right. The inscription reads 'EDWARDUS VII DEI GRA: BRITT:OMN:REX FID:DEF:IND:IMP', Latin, abbreviated meaning 'Edward VII By the Grace of God King of All the Britains, Defender of the Faith, Emperor of India'. The reverse features Britannia seated facing right. She has a shield at her side and a trident in her left hand. The date is below, and the denomination is above the central image.
