Description:

English bronze farthing, 1885

Diameter 19mm

The obverse features the 'bun head' bust of Victoria facing left. The inscription reads 'VICTORIA D:G: BRITT:REG:F:D', Latin, abbreviated meaning 'Victoria By the Grace of God Queen of the Britains, Defender of the Faith'. The reverse features Britannia seated facing right with a shield at her side and a trident in her left hand. There is a lighthouse and a ship in the background, with the date below and the denomination above.
