Description:

English copper farthing, 1754

Diameter 21mm

The obverse features the cuirassed laureate bust of George II facing left. The inscription reads 'GEORGIUS.II.REX', Latin for 'King George II', although it is illegible on this example. The reverse features Britannia seated and facing left. She has a shield at her side and is carrying a spear in her left hand, and an olive branch in her right hand. The date is below and the inscription reads 'BRITANNIA'.
