Description:

English copper halfpenny, third issue, 1700

Diameter 26mm

The obverse features the cuirassed laureate bust of William III facing right and the inscription 'GULIELMUS TERTIUS', Latin for 'William the Third'. The reverse features Britannia seated facing left, she has a shield at her side and carries a spear in her left hand and an olive branch in her right. The date is below although it is largely illegible in this example and the inscription reads 'BRITANNIA'.
