Medal struck to celebrate the Treaty of Paris in 1856, which put an end to the Crimean War. The war was fought between Russia and an alliance of the Ottoman Empire, Piedmont, France and the United Kingdom. The obverse features a radiate eye with the word 'PEACE' below. Underneath is an angel with a long thin trumpet at its feet, placing a wreath around the neck of a lion which is lying down with its head resting on its paws. Below them is a dove with an olive branch in its beak. The inscription reads 'GOOD WILL TOWARDS MEN'. The reverse gives details of the date of the treaty and the countries involved and declares 'NATIONAL REJOICINGS MAY 29th 1856'.
