Description:This Arab knife and sheath is from Sudan. It has a bone handle with a curving metal blade. The sheath is decorated with black, white, silver and gold beads, and cowrie shells.

There are many possible uses for the knife. It may have been used in dances, given as a wedding gift, or used to exorcise possessed people. The knife was proabably made as a trade item or pilgrim souvenir.
