Description:This is a snuff box from the Haussa people of Cameroon. It is made of leather, and has a small leather lid. The fine leather strands hold on the lid and decorate the underside.The snuff box has been tied to two others with the leather strands. An old museum label reads 'HAUSSA RECEPTICLE FOR / SNUFF ETC. CAMEROON / HINTERLAND, BAYA. / Collected by Mr. E. C. / Holland, and presented / by Mr. W. Carrington of / Harbury.'
