Description:An umbo (or ‘shield boss’) with gilded bronze plates embossed with a stylised boar’s head decoration on the rim. This breast-shaped boss was fastened to the wood shield with rivets. Found in a warrior’s grave together with an iron knife, spear head and a bronze bowl.
