Description:A courtier: Sir John Harington, Shakespeare's contemporary. Sir John Harington, son of Henry VIII's treasurer, was godson to Queen Elizabeth I. He was educated at Eton College and Cambridge before studying law at Lincoln's Inn. Known at court as a poet and wit, Harington was popular with the queen's attendants and was banished from court on more than one occasion for his lively behaviour. He later became tutor to James I's eldest son, Prince Henry. Full title: Ludovico Ariosto, Orlando Furioso in English heroical verse by Sir John Harington now thirdly revised, London, printed by G. Miller for J. Parker, 1634.
