Date:1620 - 1625 (c.)
Description:A Shakespeare source with a fine binding. The elegant binding of this volume dates from the late nineteenth-century and replaced whatever original leather was given to the volume in 1625 when it was first sold. Such a fine binding, with elaborate gold tooling on the spine, corners of the boards and on a central 'cartouche', was often carried out to match other books in the library of a specialist collector. This volume also bears the bookplates of nineteenth century owners. Full title: Giovanni Boccaccio, The modell of witt, mirth, eloquence and conversation, translated by J. Florio [The Decameron, book 1], London, Printed by I. Jaggard for M. Lowndes, 1625. Bound with: Giovanni Boccaccio, The The Decameron..., translated by J. Florio, London, Printed by Isaac Jaggard, 1620.
