Description:This small wooden barrel, or costrel, has an iron handle and iron rings to hold the staves, wooden strips, in place. Costrels were used by farm workers to carry their beer and cider out to the fields. This one belonged to a farmer called W. Chattaway and has the initials 'W.C.' carved on to the ends. Late 18th, early 19th century 145mm diameter x 210mm high
