Description:A view of the Green Drawing Room at Warwick Castle, taken around 1869.
This is the third in a sequence (or 'enfilade') of five eighteenth-century interiors, leading from the castle's Great Hall.
The walls and coffered ceiling are painted in a light green, with trim and detail picked out in gold. Although naturally well-lit at times, this room looks quite dark for much of the day.
Like many of the rooms, this is equipped with an abundance of French furniture, dating from the eighteenth century.
The portrait to the right of the doorway may be one of Charles I, by the school of Anthony van Dyck, the famous painter to the English court. This painting still hangs there today.
