Description:The interior of the Great Hall at Warwick Castle, around 1869.

This photograph was taken before fire ravaged many of the castle's interiors in 1871.

The rooms beyond this end of the Great Hall were gutted by the blaze. The floor, wall panels and roof of the Great Hall were also damaged. Behind the photographer is a sequence (or 'enfilade') of eighteenth-century drawing rooms that were thankfully saved.
