A landscape scene with Matthew Boulton's Soho Buildings, Birmingham, in the distance. Boulton was an 18th Century industrialist who lived near his Soho Manufactory in Birmingham. He is known for his partnership with James Watt. In 1775 Boulton and Watt patented the condensing steam engine which they made at their Soho Foundry. The text accompanying the image gives a history of the Soho buildings.
