United States of America silver-copper 1/2 dime


Diameter 15mm


The obverse features the value within a wreath tied at the base with a bow and the inscription 'UNITED STATES OF AMERICA' around the outside. The reverse features Christian Gobrecht's 'Seated Liberty' design, Liberty sits on a rock with her body angled to the right, looking over her right shoulder. Her right hand rests on a striped shield at her side bearing a diagonal banner with the word 'LIBERTY' on it. In her left hand is a pole surmounted by the Phrygian, or liberty, cap. Around the top are thirteen six-pointed stars representing the original thirteen Anglo-American colonies. The date is below.
