Mexican copper 1/4 real, 1830

Diameter 27mm

The obverse features the Coat of Arms of Mexico - a golden eagle standing on a cactus and holding a snake in its beak and one in its talon, all above a half wreath. The inscription reads 'REPUBLICA MEXICANA'. The reverse features the denomination. Below this is the mintmark for Mexico City ('M'), the mintmaster's initial, 'A', and the date. All appear within a wreath.
