German copper-nickel 5 pfennig, 1906


Diameter 17mm


The obverse features the coat of arms of the German Empire - an eagle with a crown above bearing a shield on its chest surrounded by a medal collar. That shield also bears a crowned eagle holding a sceptre in its right talon and an orb in its left. It has a smaller per cross shield on its chest. Below is the mintmark 'J' for Hamburg, at either side of the eagle's tail. The reverse features the denomination and the inscription 'DEUTSCHES REICH 1906', meaning 'German Empire 1906'.
