Medal struck for the Tyne Wrecked Mariners Home. The obverse features a central unidentified image with the inscription 'TYNE WRECKED MARINERS HOME/ 1841'. The obverse features the image of a shipwreck on stormy seas. To the fore is a manned lifeboat saving a drowning mariner, and behind amidst the high waves is the wrecked ship. A ruin, cottage and lighthouse stand on cliffs in the background and there are seagulls flying under a stormy sky.
