Description:

English brass gambling token or game counter, 1768


Diameter 20mm


The obverse features the laureate bust of George III facing right and the inscription 'GEORGIUS III DEI GRATIA', 'George III By the Grace of God'. The reverse features a spade shaped shield bearing the coat of arms of the Hanoverian Monarchs with a crown above. The inscription reads 'IN MEMORY OF THE GOOD OLD DAYS' and the date is below. The token has a pierced hole which is not part of the original design.
