Turkish nickel 5 Para, Hejira date 1327 (23 January 1909 - 12 January 1910).


Diameter 15mm


The obverse features two symbols within a central beaded ring. The larger symbol is the tughra, a calligraphic seal or signature, of Muhammad V (1909-1918). The smaller symbol to the right means 'Reshat' which is an honorific title. Around the outside are three sections of Arabic writing separated by two five-pointed stars. Below there are branches of wheat on the right, and possibly olive branches to the left, tied with a bow. The reverse features the denomination in Arabic within a central beaded ring that is concave at the top. Around the outside are three sections of writing in Arabic separated by two five pointed stars, the first section to the left is the mintname of Constantinople. The date is below within a rectangle with wheat to the right and an unidentified branch, possibly olive, to the left.
