Description:Barcheston Parish Register showing the entry for the burial of Peter the Docheman(or Dutchman). His surname was probably too difficult for the churchwarden to write. The entry says:'Peter a Duchma[n] s[er]vant to Rich[ard] Hickes was buried the xvii th day of Julie 1590' Peter may have been either a journey man,a trained weaver, or an apprentice ('servant') of Hyckes. It is not known how long he had been at Barcheston, nor whether he came from the Low Countries or from a London emigre family.
