Description:This medal was presented to subscribers to an illustrated edition of Shakespeare's plays published under the direction of John and Josiah Boydell. This was associated with an exhibition organised by the Boydells (principally John) which opened in 1789 and featured illustrations of Shakespearian scenes including work by some of the most important British artists of the eighteenth-century Produced by C.H.
