Description:This is an oil painting on canvas dating from about 1860 depicting a scene from William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. The artist was W. Balls, and his signature is in the bottom left hand corner. In the centre are the fairy king and queen, Oberon and Titania, and on the left possibly the character Puck. On the right is Titania's bower which Shakespeare describes as looking like a large snake skin. Framed size Height 639mm, Width 773mm, Depth 60mm
