Description:This is an oil painting on canvas depicting the ship HMS Indefatigable. A caption painted in a cartouche in the top right reads 'His Majesty's ship Indefatigable of 40 guns Sir Edw. Pellew engages and takes La Verginia a French Frigate of 44 guns on the 22nd April 1796 off the coast of France Neptune and Amphritrite god and goddess of the Seas Riding Triumphant'. Framed size Height 566mm, Width 760mm, Depth 48mm
