Description:This is an oil painting on canvas depicting the ship HMS Indefatigable.
A caption painted in a cartouche in the top right reads 'His Majesty's ship Indefatigable of 40 guns Sir Edw. Pellew engages and takes La Verginia a French Frigate of 44 guns on the 22nd April 1796 off the coast of France Neptune and Amphritrite god and goddess of the Seas Riding Triumphant'.
