Description:Remains of an old wooden post mill at Edgehill. 1890s

Seaby lists three windmills:
Ratley (Edgehill) - Post mill built by 1561. Recorded 1619; (21 October 1642). 1697
Ratley Grange - possibly the mill above restored? - Built by 1789. Ceased during 19th century. Demolished in quarry c.1900. Post mill with roundhouse.
Ratley (1/4 mile south west of Tower) - Built in 1812(?). Ceased by early 20th century. Demolished 1916. Post mill with open base.

[It has been noted that this postmill was possibly one situated on "windy corner" a 1/4 mile southwest of the tower and demolished between the wars. Its design and framing is more likely to date C1600 than 1800 due to its lack of diagonal bracing and small girts]
