Description:A Fowler eight horse power ploughing engine working an early prototype four-furrow reversible plough, Salford Priors. c. 1880. This description appears on the back of the image.

[From correspondence it should be an eight furrow turn-round plough. Another copy of this image is catalogued as GST B255 in the Museum of English Rural Life, University of Reading. It is from a series of 8 photographs in sequence. Some of these were published in early John Fowler brochures and also in 'The Engineer' before 1900.]
