Date:1932

Description:The cattle market in October 1932. Before 1873 the cattle market was held in the streets of the town. In December 1873 the Local Government Board sanctioned the raising of a loan of £2,000 for the purchase of a field for the purpose. A field in Hillmorton Road was purchased but was not used as a cattle market and in 1878 the present market was opened on the site near to the Midland Railway Station. There have been several enlargements and improvements, for instance the T.T. Dairy yards and Sales Ring which were opened in 1953.
