Description:This brown leather head guard was worn by Randolph Turpin throughout his boxing career.

Head guards are worn during sparring (practice fighting) to protect against bruises and cuts. During sparring boxers also wear mouth guards, body guards and sparring gloves, which are usually more padded than gloves used in matches.
