Date:1860

Description:Photograph of the east front of Woodcote House, Leek Wootton. The photograph dates from 1860 and must have been taken shortly before the house was demolished and rebuilt by Henry Christopher Wise in 1860/61. The posts visible in the foreground of the shot may relate to the new build.

Henry Christopher Wise and his wife Harriet came to live at Woodcote House in 1830, renting it first from Henry Mallory and then the Ricardo family. He inherited the Priory, Warwick, in 1850 but chose to sell the house and gardens, remaining at Woodcote which he went on to purchase in 1851.
