Description:

A carved household god of thunder figure, from Sierra Leone, which is on a stand.

The hair style of the figure is in the form of a hammer, which represents thunder, and there are strings of beads around the neck and hair. The figure holds its breasts which is a typical attitude in a Yoruba tribe carving. This type of figure would have been waved around while people were dancing at festivals.
