Description:Friendly Society banner from Long Itchington. The banner is silk with wool detailing and has a gold-painted inscription and decoration. It is pennant shaped with a fringe along the bottom edge, which has been squared-off at the end with a long yellow woollen tassle. The right side is of dark blue silk with a yellow wool border. The inscription reads 'FEAR GOD HONOUR THE QUEEN / UNION IS STRENGTH'. There is a foliate border around the wording with two hands clasping in the top corner. There are three rosettes of red and blue silk in the bottom corners and top right corner. The left side of the banner is dark pink/faded red silk with a border and fringe. The inscription reads 'LONG ITCHINGTON FRIENDLY / SOCIETY ESTABLISHED 1838' and has a foliate border around the wording. There are two hands clasping in the top corner. There are small areas of damage and some soiling as well as fading in places, c.1838-1902.
