Description:This silver trowel was presented to Alderman Wackrill upon laying the first stone of the Hospital for Infectious Diseases in Leamington Spa, on 7 November 1887. The plate of the trowel bears an engraved inscription that reads: 'Presented To / Alderman S.T. Wackrill J.P. / Mayor Of Leamington / Chairman Of / Warwick Joint Hospital Board / On The Occasion Of His Laying / The First Stone Of The / Hospital For Infectious Diseases / By / Keith D. Young F.R.I.B.A. / Architect / November 7th 1887'. Alderman Samuel Thomas Wackrill was four times mayor of Leamington Borough.
