Portuguese copper three reis, 1699

Diameter 27mm

The obverse features the monogram of Peter II. There is a crown above the monogram and a beaded ring around it. The inscription around the outside reads 'D.G.PORT/ ET.AG.REX', Latin, abbreviated from 'Dei Gratia Portugal et Algariorium Rex', meaning By the Grace of God King of Portugal and Algarves. The reverse features the numerical denomination within a wreath. The inscription reads 'PUBLICAE UTILITATI', meaning For the Public Use. The date is above.
