English copper token, 1655


Diameter 15mm


The obverse features a shield within a central ring. The inscription around the outside is very worn but the name 'WALLER' is just visible to the left of the shield. The obverse features the letters 'W/A/E' within a central ring. The 'W' is flanked by five-pointed stars. The inscription around the outside reads 'OF ANDOVER 1655'. This is a Civil War token possibly associated with the Parliamentarian William Waller, MP for Andover.
