The obverse features the tughra, a calligraphic seal or signature, of Mahmud II. The Adli is to the right and there is a wreath border decoration around the outside. The reverse features the inscription 'was struck in Misr' (Egypt) in Arabic. Above is the regnal year, 29, and below is the first year of the reign of Mahmud IV, 1223 in the Hejira calendar. There is a wreath decoration around the outside.
